Funeral services for Ruby Alston, age 95, who died on Friday, October 17, 2025 will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the St. John Baptist Church in Red Oak with Pastor Dr. Leon Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Maryland National Cemetery in Laurel, MD.
She is survived by six daughters, Shirley Alston-Jones of the home, Juanita Hilliard of Castalia, NC, Patricia Perry of Germantown, MD, Pamela Turner of Capitol Heights, MD, Norma Alston of Laurel, MD, Kimberly Burns of Washington, DC; one son, Lester Spivey (Gloria) of Rocky Mount, NC; nineteen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a viewing Saturday from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church.

My heart is broken the loss of my only Aunt., my Mom’s sister is overwhelming just over 60 days of losing My Mom. Aunt Ruby was a treasure, A great matriarch, Mother, Grandmother, sister and Auntie. I loved the one on one talks we shared right up to 3 days before God called her home. She shared tokens of wisdom , love and always reminded me to look at situations as a glass half full. Love you Auntie, your niece Brenda.

Aunt Ruby.. my Love, you have left such a beautiful legacy in all its glory. While my heart is heavy, I just am so honored to have had you in my life and as my aunt. Today, I will rejoice in knowing that you have joined my uncle, your amazing husband, who was also a blessing beyond measure! Additionally? joining your only sister,, who you protected and supported so gracefully. My dad, cousins, grandma and all who are there, sounding the trumpets for you, gives me comfort.
