Funeral services for James Edward “Bud” Alston, age 87, who died on Saturday, January 10, 2026, will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Nashville with Rev. Geraldine Standback officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel AME Church Cemetery.
Bud is survived by his daughter, Melody Short (Gilbert) of Nashville, NC; two sisters, Brenda Alston Cox of Rocky Mount, NC, Delois Alston Drewery of Lanham, MD; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a viewing Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Nashville.

Melody, your daddy will be truly missed. He was a good man, and you know if you do not know anything else, he truly loved you. Mr. Bud your pain in gone now, you can definitely rest in peace.
