Funeral services for Johnny Edward Tanner, Sr., age 78, who died on Friday, January 30, 2026, will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. from the Greenfield Baptist Church in Creedmoor, NC with Rev. Melvin Baker, officiating.

He is survived by his spouse, Shirley K. Tanner of the home, his son, Michael Tanner (Jackie) of Raleigh, NC, Norma Jean Tanner of the home, son, Johnny Edwards Tanner, Jr. (Lesley) of Louisburg, NC, siblings, William Henry Tanner of Wake Forest, NC, Emma Jean Sanders of Cary, NC, Victor Tanner (Mary) Wake Forest, and Rosalene Tanner of Raleigh, NC, Marvin D. Tanner (Mary) of Franklinton, NC, Regina Tanner of Cary, NC, Reginald Tanner (Lissette) of Raleigh, NC, Micheal L. Tanner (Verlinda) of Rolesville, NC, eight grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing prior to the service on Saturday from 11:00 until 12:00 at Greenfield Baptist Church.
